In these recent case studies, learn how Covenant provided flexibility & fast service across multiple logistics offerings

For more than 35 years, Covenant has built its reputation as a trusted, reliable transportation and logistics services provider. However, what makes the company stand out goes beyond its strong driver network and dedicated contract carriage fleet. The company shines by continuously providing flexible and fast services across multiple logistics offerings, including dedicated and expedited trucking, transportation management, warehousing solutions, and more. Read on for examples of these capabilities.

Leading Equipment Manufacturer Saved $105k In the First Year of Operations

Covenant successfully provided dedicated contract carriage and distribution management services to an internationally leading manufacturer of agricultural, forestry and other industrial equipment. The domestic contract included developing a consistent, cost-effective transportation and inventory management solution for inbound parts. The challenges included seasonal fluctuations and the need to provide matching inbound/outbound shipments. Covenant addressed the client’s total requirements by deploying a variety of equipment, including trucks and team trucks, trailers, tractors, and day cabs. The company also leveraged a 150,000 SQFT warehouse, staffed by 14 associates who worked tirelessly to ensure proper inventory management. In the first year of operations, this client realized $105,000 in savings and benefitted from consistent, on-time performance.

“We not only met their transportation and warehousing needs, but also provided weekly metrics, and served as a single point of contact for all services” said Covenant’s George Yates, senior vice president, brokerage. “Covenant is highly flexible and can act faster than other brokerages because of our portfolio of multiple service offerings.”

Sporting Goods Company Maintained 98 Percent Service Expectations During the Peak of the Pandemic

When a leading U.S.-based sporting goods store chain sought a transportation partner to manage more than 600 loads per month across three distribution centers, Covenant stepped up. The company managed year-round pools of more than 20 trailers across multiple locations and provided live and drop options for both the shipper and consignee. Covenant also leveraged HAZMAT-certified drivers and high-cargo insured carriers and developed a consistent trailer pool with 24/7 visibility for high-value cargo freight. As a result of Covenant’s comprehensive solution, the client maintained 98-percent service expectations and gained flexible capacity solutions during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Covenant pulled its team and assets together during a particularly challenging time,” said Covenant’s Bo Cordell, Vice President of Regional Sales. “We are proud of our ability to meet the client’s requirements and help them achieve excellent outcomes as well.”

Distributor Gained Urgently Needed Capacity, With Excellent Communication and Visibility

A national office furniture distributor reached out to Covenant to supplement the company’s long-term dedicated business across two weekly routes. When Covenant committed, however, the client’s existing dedicated provider pulled drivers out, leaving it in a deficit. Covenant swiftly backfilled the need by leveraging its Solutions group to source additional short-term capacity and ensure business continuity through 90 days, when the long-term solution would initiate. The routes increased to seven per week, with seven to 15 stops each, complete with driver unloading, in support of two facilities. The client suffered no negative impact because of the unexpected loss of driver support, and its supply chain continued to operate efficiently.

“We assisted this distributor during a great time of need and have serviced the business tremendously since day one. Covenant has successfully routed each shipment, including servicing the multi-stops and managing driver unloads, which is a very unique service in the brokerage space,” said Cordell. “Ultimately, we provided them with a single point of contact and an immediate increase in visibility and communication. This reduced their headaches tremendously, and we received other opportunities to service their business.”
