Coordinating a Multi-Phase Flooring Delivery for JFK Airport

Covenant Logistics managed cross-country transport, 3-month warehousing, and union-compliant JFK delivery—on time and under budget.

“At the end of the day, it comes down to staying on schedule and staying within budget. When freight shows up on time and you’re under budget, that’s a win.”

For a New York City-based flooring contractor with more than 30 years of experience, that standard defined success on a complex project at JFK Airport.

The Overview

As a full-service flooring contractor and certified MWBE company, the team manages large-scale, detail-driven installations across demanding environments.

For the JFK project, they were responsible for coordinating materials across multiple phases, requiring precise timing from initial pickup through final delivery to the job site.

The Challenge

The scope of the project extended well beyond a typical freight move.

Flooring materials arrived in California and needed to be:

• Picked up and transported cross-country

• Warehoused off-site for more than three months

• Delivered into JFK Airport based on installation timing

• Handled in compliance with union driver requirements

“Transportation has become a much bigger part of how we manage projects, especially on larger jobs,” said the Project Executive. “Everything has to line up with the schedule.”

Finding a single partner capable of managing transportation, storage, and final delivery without creating gaps or delays was a critical challenge.

The Solution

To support the project, Covenant Logistics delivered a fully coordinated, end-to-end solution across transportation and warehousing.

The approach included:

West Coast Pickup and Transload

Containers arriving in California were transloaded and moved using team drivers to ensure speed and reliability.

Cross-Country Transportation

Freight was transported efficiently from the West Coast to the East Coast.

Warehouse Staging and Storage

Covenant provided storage from December 2025 through March 2026, enabling controlled, phased release aligned to installation timing

Final Delivery to JFK Airport

Delivery was executed using a carrier partner with union drivers to meet site-specific requirements and installation schedules.

By integrating transportation and warehousing into a single, coordinated solution, the team maintained continuity across every phase of the project.

The Results

With all phases aligned, the project was executed with greater control and consistency:

• Materials were delivered on time in alignment with installation schedules.

• Storage and transportation were coordinated without disruption.

• Costs were managed effectively across a complex, multi-phase move.

• The team maintained flexibility as schedules evolved.

“There are always last-minute changes. Deliveries shift, timing moves, and you have to be able to react quickly,” the Project Executive shared.
The Partnership

Throughout the project, responsiveness and communication played a critical role.

“It’s been a great relationship so far. We get quick responses to every request or question, which makes a big difference when timelines are tight.”
