Covenant will speak during a “Sustainability Innovations: Perspectives from Different Roles in the Supply Chain” panel.

Covenant’s Matt McLelland, vice president of sustainability and innovation, will take the stage during the upcoming Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) EDGE Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition, scheduled for September 18 through 21, in Nashville. McLelland’s panel session, titled “Sustainability Innovations: Perspectives from Different Roles in the Supply Chain,” will provide a platform for him to share how Covenant is embracing sustainability while navigating business needs, costs, and other external factors. He will also discuss Scope 3 emissions (those which primarily come from a company's supply chain, but are not under the direct control of the reporting company itself) and what they mean to shippers, as well as how 3PLs and shippers can work together to help move sustainability initiatives forward.

Participating in the panel session alongside McLelland are Rebecca McCord, associate director of global strategic sourcing, Sonoco Products Company, and Isaac Shweky, president, Reverse Solutions. This panel session will take place on September 19, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. CDT, in the Ryman Ballroom of Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.

In his role at Covenant, McLelland is responsible for leading the sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives for the enterprise. This includes researching industry trends and technologies, as well as evaluating emerging start-ups in the logistics space to consider their applicability to Covenant. McLelland is also heavily involved in researching and testing products allowing for the eventual decarbonization of freight, autonomous vehicles, and alternative fuels. McLelland is currently based in Chattanooga, TN.
