How Covenant Helped a National Sporting Goods Brand Out of a Bind Using Multiple Solutions

When a long-standing national sporting goods customer needed extra capacity for port and drayage on short notice, they turned to Covenant to engineer and quickly implement a customized solution that would work for them.

The Overview

There is nothing worse than unexpected surges when you are in any part of the supply chain industry. When you are one of the nation's largest sporting goods stores transporting millions of dollars worth of inventory in and out of ports year-round, you want to be sure your logistics partner can handle it. When our customer's incumbent failed to meet the demand needed during peak season, they placed an emergency call to their account manager at Covenant, and it was quickly all hands on deck.

The Challenge

Our customer found themselves in a dilemma. They needed over 80 containers moved from Katy, Texas, to the Port of Houston -and they needed it fast. While we already had a long-standing relationship with them in our brokerage division, we had not gotten the chance to branch out into port and drayage or dedicated fleets.

The Partnership

Covenant’s creative solutions and commitment to the client partnership created a successful process that continues to deliver lasting value today. After helping them get through the unexpected surge, we were able to engineer a permanent custom solution for them that allows them to complete their125-mile round-trip transfers daily.

Covenant is ecstatic to have grown this relationship into other sectors of our business throughout the years. We know that with our flexibility and commitment as a complete logistics partner, there are other success stories yet to come out of this relationship!
